Extract
Jesus often found himself surrounded by crowds of people. They wanted to hear his teachings and see his great deeds.
On one sad occasion, after he heard about the beheading of John the Baptist, a man whom he described as the greatest Prophet, he went privately in a boat to an isolated place, only to find that a crowd had followed him.
Jesus’ response was to have, “Compassion on them and heal their sick”, and then perform the miraculous feeding of some five thousand people, with five loaves and two small fish. (Matthew 14:14)
Thought
How often do I feel tired and wish to get away from my daily chores to reflect and rest? Perhaps, at some point during most days!
May Jesus’ life example, be a constant inspiration to me.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, give me the strength to persevere in all aspects of my work today. May I see less of my needs, more of others and be forever Yours, the Risen Jesus.
Prayer: Before A Crucifix
Behold, O Kind and Most Sweet Jesus,
I fall upon my knees in Thy sight,
and with the most fervent desire of my soul,
I pray and beseech Thee
to impress upon my heart
lively sentiments of faith, hope and charity,
with true repentance for my sins,
and a firm desire of amendment.
Whilst with deep affection and grief of soul,
I ponder within myself and mentally contemplate
Thy five most precious wounds,
having before my eyes that which David the prophet spoke,
O Good Jesus: “They have pierced my hands and feet,
they have numbered all my bones”. Amen.
