The Birth of Jesus

Jesus-365-1Chapter 2 – Jesus’ Birth And Childhood
Story No. 6 of 12
 (Mt 1:18-25, Lk 2:1-7)

There is no more momentous an occasion in one’s life, than the birth of a child.

Nativity-2Mary conceived the Child Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit. Joseph, whom she was engaged to marry, planned to quietly separate so as not to disgrace her. But an Angel appeared and told him not to be afraid to take Mary as his wife because the child conceived was from the Holy Spirit.

Joseph took Mary as his wife and while they were on their way to register for taxes, by order of the king, Mary gave birth to Jesus, the Son of God, in a stable in Bethlehem. It was their first humble home, among the animals; they had been unable to find an Inn or house to rest, due to the crowds of people likewise, arriving in Bethlehem to register.

ThoughtsThought

Sometimes our hearts can be far from God and our ears deaf to his voice. If only we had the wisdom of Joseph and the humility of Mary to accept the burden we are asked to carry!

ReflectionsReflection

Lord Jesus, open my ears to your message and turn my heart to your fountain of love.

Cross-4RPrayer: Renewal

Lord Jesus,
give us humility wherever pride reigns,
pardon wherever offence abides,
grace wherever sin abounds;
we pray to you;
Jesus Christ, risen Lord,
have mercy on us. Amen.
