Prayer 30th March – St Peter de Regalado

Featured Saint: Saint Peter de Regalado (1390 – 1456)

Saint Peter de Regalado was born into a noble and very wealthy family at Valladolid, Spain. When young, he yearned to be admitted to the Franciscan Order and at 13yrs his wish was granted. Soon afterwards he became a disciple of Pedro de Villacreces and joined his convent at Aguilera where he settled into his beloved life of praying, fasting, solitude and poverty. He became Superior of the Convent at 25yrs and later, when Pedro de Villacreces died he succeeded him as Superior of a convent at Tribulos. Saint Peter de Regalado became renowned for his numerous ‘bread and water’ forty day Lent fasts, the gift of miracles and the gift of prophecy. When his body was exhumed 36yrs after his death it was found to be incorrupt.

+In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen+

Short Story: When Jesus gave sight to a man who was blind from birth on the Sabbath “some of the Pharisees began to say, this man is not from God, because he does not observe the Sabbath. But others said, how can a man who is a sinner perform such miraculous signs?” (John 9:16)  Jesus then asked the man who gained his sight, “do you believe in the Son of Man?” (John 9:35) and he replied “Lord, I believe” (John 9:38)

Private Reflection: Yes, we make life complicated! We already have numerous gifts granted to us and if like me you can read this, they include the gift of sight.
