Prayer 23rd Nov. – Christ the King

Feast Day: Christ the King

Today is the Feast of Christ the King. This honorary title is the name given to Jesus Christ by Christians. The term is quoted on many occasions in scripture. It was instituted as a feast Day in 1925 to remind Christians of their allegiance to our spiritual King, as opposed to any earthly ruler. Pope Benedict XVI said that Christ the King is not based on human power but on loving and serving others.

+In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen+

Christ the KingShort Story: When Jesus described judgement day he said, “All the nations will be assembled before Him, and he will separate people one from another like a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left”. (Matthew 25:32-33)

Thoughts: I pray that my friends, my family and I, will be counted as sheep, but I also pray that many, many more souls will be saved; more than the grains of sand on the seashore.

Reflection and Prayer: The King will say to the sheep, the righteous on his right:
“I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I was naked and you gave me clothing,
I was sick and you took care of me,
I was in prison and you visited me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)

Christ our King: Have Mercy on Us

+In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen+
