Jesus said to his disciples, “Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me.” (John 15:4)
A branch separated from its roots lives only a short time, then it dies. Perhaps that’s similar to abandoning the sacraments; slowly we become fully disconnected and die!
Lord Jesus, through your Holy Spirit, may our bond remain firm and my life an example to my friends and all who see me.
Prayer: The Lord is My Shepherd
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in pastures green,
He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen.
