Prayer 14th March – St Leobinus

Featured Saint: St Leobinus (Died 556)

St Leobinus was born in Poitiers, France. He was the son of a peasant family working as shepherd and farm labourer. He yearned for an education but his family were neither educated themselves nor did they have the money to pay for his education. Eventually through persistence he was accepted into a monastery in Noailles where he worked for the monks by day in return for an education in the evening. St Leobinus later became a Monk at Lyon, France. During a raid on the monastery by renegade soldiers, he was severely tortured to divulge the whereabouts of the monasteries treasures. He remained silent and was left for dead but recovered. St Leobinus later became a Priest and Abbot before being appointed Bishop of Chartres where he participated in the two great synods of Orleans and Paris. St Leobinus was noted for his miracle work and gift of healing.

+In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen+
