2nd July 2016: Pope Francis emphatically condemned the barbarous terrorist attack on foreigners in a cafe in Dhaka, the Bangladeshi capital. Twenty hostages, including a pregnant Italian woman, were murdered.
Pope Francis said in a letter sent on his behalf that he was, “Deeply saddened by the senseless violence perpetrated against innocent victims in Dhaka.”
“His Holiness Pope Francis expresses heartfelt condolences and condemns such barbarous acts as offences against God and humanity.”
The attack came just days after 41 people were killed at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport and which Pope Francis referred to as a “heinous terror attack.”
